Jesus Rodriguez Jr1SG Rodriguez was born in Del Rio, Texas, on July 8, 1962. He attended and graduated from Holmes High School in 1980. In February 1984, he enlisted in the United States Army and attended basic training at Ft Benning, GA. He completed Basic Infantry Training and Airborne Training in July 1984.

1SG Rodriguez first duty assignment was A Co, 1st Battalion, 504th Airborne Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division where he served as a Rifleman and Dragon Gunner. In January 1987, he was reassigned to 4th Battalion, 41st Infantry in Germany. From January 1987 to April 1990, he served as a Bradley Driver, dismounted Team Leader, and Bradley Gunner.

1SG Rodriguez held several other positions at various assignments, such as Bradley Commander during the Gulf War with B Co, 2nd Battalion, 15th Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division. He served as a Drill Sergeant while assigned to D Co, 1st Battalion, 50th Infantry Regiment at Ft Benning, GA. Afterwards, he was reassigned to Camp Casey Korea, where he served as a Squad Leader and Bradley Commander in C Co, 1st Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment. While assigned to 1st Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division, he served as a Platoon Sergeant. Later, he was assigned to A TM 1st Battalion, 307th Infantry at Ft Jackson SC, as an Observer/Controller. He is currently the First Sergeant of B Co, 1st Battalion, 506th Air Assault Infantry Regiment in Iraq, executing combat operations in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom II.

His awards and decorations include MSM-2, ARCOM-4, AAM-8, AGCM-6, NDSM-2, NCOPDR-3, KDSM-1, ASR-1, OSR-3, GWTSM-1, GWTEM-1, SWASM-2, KWLM-1, CIB-2, EIB, Drill Sergeant Badge, and Airborne Badge.

His military education consists of: 1SG Course, ANCOC, BNCOC, PLDC, Drill Sergeant School, Airborne School, JRTC Observer/Controller Course, Instructor Training Course, ODS Course, FBCB2 Course, IO Course, Bradley Transition Course, and Dragon School.

1SG Rodriguez, his wife Jackie, and daughter Bethanie reside in Kempner, Texas; his son Danny and wife Mari, and two grandchildren Katherine and Kaidan are stationed in Hawaii.
