Kenny Burgos1SG Burgos was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, on August 8, 1964. He attended and graduated from DR. Pila High School in 1982. In November 1982, he enlisted in the United States Army and attended basic training at Fort Benning, GA. He completed Basic Infantry Training and Airborne Training in April 1983.

1SG Burgos's first duty assignment was C Co, 1st Battalion, 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division. Where he served as a Rifleman and M60 Machine Gunner. In January 1986, he was reassigned to 4th Battalion, 502nd Infantry in Berlin, Germany. Through January 1986 to January 1989, he served as a Scout/Observer, Sniper, and Team Leader.

1SG Burgos has held several other positions at various assignments, such as Instructor at the School of the Americas. He has served as an Instructor, Squad Leader, and Platoon Sergeant while assigned to E Co, 1st Battalion, 29th Infantry Regiment. While assigned to 4th Battalion, 12th Infantry in Baumholder, Germany, he served as a Squad Leader, Platoon Sergeant, and First Sergeant. He also served as a First Sergeant during Operation Joint Endeavor in Bosnia, Herzegovina. Afterward, he was reassigned to Fort Hood, TX where he served as an Instructor at III Corps NCO Academy, then Platoon Sergeant, Platoon Leader and First Sergeant in B Co, 2nd Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division. Later, he was assigned to A TM 1st Battalion, 306th Infantry at Fort Stewart, GA as an Observer/Controller. He is currently First Sergeant of C Co, 1st Battalion, 506th Air Assault Infantry Regiment in Iraq, executing combat operations in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom II.

His awards and decorations include MSM-2, ARCOM-3, AAM-8, AGCM-6, NDSM-2, AOM-1, KDSM-1, AFSM-1, NOPDR-3, ASR-1, OSR-3, NATOMDL-1, GWTSM-1, CIB, EIB, Airborne Badge, Air Assault Badge, Pathfinder Badge, German Shootsinsnier, and French Commando Badge.

His military education consists of: ANCOC, BNCOC, PLDC, Pathfinder School, Airborne School, Air Assault School, Master Fitness Trainer Course, Sniper Course, Basic Instructor Course, Bradley Leader's Course, Technical Transportation of Hazardous Material Course, and JRTC Observer/Controller Course. His civilian education includes two years of college from Liberty University of Virginia.
