David L. ClarkCOL David Larkin Clark assumed command of the 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry (Currahee) on 22 May 2002. On 1 June 2004, he was promoted to Colonel. COL Clark extended his Korea tour to deploy with 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry in Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

COL Clark is a native of San Antonio, Texas. He is a 1978 graduate of Texas Tech University and was commissioned through the Officers Candidate School at Fort Benning, GA in Nov 82. His military education includes the Infantry Officer Basic and Advance Courses, Combined Arms Services Staff School and the Command and General Staff College.

COL Clark served in a wide variety of assignments to include the 101st Airborne Division (AASLT), Fort Campbell, KY; the 25th Infantry Division (L), Schofield Barracks, HI; 2 tours with the Joint Readiness Training Center at Fort Chaffee, AR and Fort Polk, LA; a joint tour with Joint Task Force Six, Fort Bliss, TX and 3 tours in the Republic of Korea.

COL Clark commanded Charlie Company and Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 4th Battalion, 22nd Infantry in the 25th Infantry Division (L) and served as the Battalion Executive Officer for 2nd Battalion, 72nd Armor in the 2nd Infantry Division.

COL Clark's awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters), the Joint Commendation Medal, (with Oak Leaf Cluster), the Army Commendation Medal, and the Army Achievement Medal (with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters). He is a graduate of the Airborne, Air Assault and Ranger Schools and earned the Expert Infantryman's Badge and Combat Infantryman's Badge.

COL Clark is married to the former Ja Young Park of Seoul, Korea and they have two children; Willis and Hannah.
