Hellcat Newsletter (Dec 04)
The Currahees of HHC had many opportunities to attend religious services around Christmas Day. Christmas Eve saw a candle light service with many carols lead by Chaplain Robison. There also were two services on Christmas Day. HHC celebrated the season with a party on Christmas Eve. The party started with the awarding of many service awards for the personnel who spent at least 8 months in Korea. After the awards were presented the much-awaited skits followed. Highlights include the Mortar Platoon's "Iraqi" rendition of the 12 days of Christmas, Headquarters' Currahee Fashion Show and Maintence's award winning Santa's Lap Skit. Prizes were awarded in many categories and everyone who attended had a great time. The good cheer and fellowship helped make us all feel a little closer to home. December also marked the welcome addition of some significant armor upgrades to many of our utility vehicles. These vehicles, lightly used because of their lack of armor now roam the roads with confidence with the new steel that has been added. The new armor on our trucks will greatly increase the survivability of our vehicles and make our daily missions safer. There were some transitions and additions in the Currahee Family. Three of our stellar Staff Sergeants, SSG Moreno, SSG Rahill and SSG Lover were selected for promotion to Sergeant First Class. We are very proud of them and we look for many great things from them in the future. Also SSG MaNamer left for Iraq a father and he recently returned from leave a Grandfather. His granddaughter, Destiny Faith Vivas, was born on 24 Nov 04, 6 lb. 11 oz., to his daughter Jo Ann Vivas and son-in-law Damien Vivas. Good luck to them and welcome to the Currahee Family. |
