It has been quite a month for the men of Headquarters Platoon. In addition to being involved with numerous company and task force missions, our guys were busy keeping the company supplied with food and water, making sure the company's weapons and vehicles were fully mission capable, and any other basic necessities you can think of. We were able to get Internet established in the company, providing six desktop computers and five additional connections for those soldiers with personal laptops. The Gator Internet Café has been a huge hit so far and is packed around the clock. It has helped everyone to keep in touch with loved ones back home via email and instant messenger, boosting morale at the same time.

We had two members of Headquarters Platoon go on leave, SSG Olvera, the company Fire Support NCO, and SPC Robertson, our company supply clerk. Both men were able to spend quality time with family back home, and SSG Olvera was able to meet his newborn son for the first time! Finally, congratulations go out to SGT Talley, our mortar section leader, who was promoted to Staff Sergeant on 1 January 2005.
