Commander's Comments (Apr 05)

Greetings again from Camp Habbaniyah! March Madness is behind us, and the month of April is quickly becoming a memory. With the passing of time comes the realization that the Task Force will soon be deploying to Fort Carson, Colorado. However, there is still much to be accomplished and we remain dedicated to the mission and tasks at hand.

We have been extremely active and productive during the month of April. The majority of our efforts have centered on setting the conditions for the successful transition of our higher headquarters and the training of our Iraqi Army brothers that are preparing to assume security for this region. The Task Force conducted numerous operations in support the relief in place between 1st Marine Division and 2nd Marine Division. The transition was seamless, and we anticipate a great relationship with the 2MARDIV.

The 9th Battalion of the 2nd Iraqi Army Division has made great strides since arriving at Camp Habbaniyah on 28 February. As a result of the training they have received from US military trainers and supervisors, the Iraqi Battalion has progressed to the point of conducting independent operations within our area of responsibility. We are excited at their progress and look forward to continuing this partnership that will equip them to secure and defend their own country.

I can't thank you enough for your support for the Task Force and the soldiers that have taken a stand and answered our Nation's call to service. You are the unsung heroes in the effort to bring democracy to the country of Iraq. Continue to keep us in your prayers. "Currahee"!
