Commander's Comments (May 05)

Greetings once again from beautiful Camp Habbaniyah, Iraq! It seems like the time between our monthly updates is decreasing rapidly. Perhaps this phenomenon is a result of the realization that we are nearing the time when the Task Force will redeploy to Fort Carson, CO and be reunited with family and friends.

This past month we have taken great strides with our partnered Iraqi Army Battalion. We have conducted numerous combined operations where our Iraqi brothers are integrated into our company formations to serve alongside US Forces. In addition to these operations, the Iraqi unit has been conducting independent operations in the neighboring communities around Camp Habbaniyah. This small-scale success is a building block in the process to equip Iraqi Security Forces to protect and defend their country and their new democratic way of life.

I am delighted to welcome CPT Taylor Jordan as the new Headquarters Company Commander. Taylor served commendably as the Task Force Logistics Officer in Korea and during the first nine months of our deployment in Iraq. His selection to command is well deserved. The former Headquarter Company Commander, CPT Matthew Farmer, moved down the street to assume Command of A Company from CPT Jason Davis. CPT Davis leaves the Currahees after 34 months of company command; an impressive and selfless tour.

As we enter the last few months of this deployment, we thank you for your unwavering support and your continued prayers on our behalf until the time when we reunite in the land of the free and the home of the brave. Many thanks for your support and prayers. Currahee!

COL David L. Clark
Battalion Commander
