Board of Directors Announcement:

The 506th Association Board of Directors, on October 23, 2015 accepted “with deep regret” the resignation of CSM(Ret) Timothy D. Coop from his seat on the Board of Directors. Tim said he took the action “with a heavy heart”, but cited urgent personal issues that needed his full attention and time. He retired as Command Sergeant Major of the 4th Brigade Combat Team in 2013 and was elected to the Board of Directors at the Branson Reunion the following year.

When a vacancy occurs on the Board, under the Association Bylaws the board will appoint a replacement. The new member will serve until the May 2016 reunion at which time the entire board will be up for election.

Selection to the Board of Directors:

We are very pleased to announce that CSM Kerry N. Bassett has been selected by the 506th Board of Directors to fill the open seat on the Board. He is currently with the 1st Cavalry Division at Fort Hood, Texas. He is due to retire from active service on 30 April 2016 after 25 years of service.

He served as a Platoon Sergeant in C Co for the train up and deployment to Iraq. He was selected above his peers upon return from Iraq to fill in as the C/2-506th First Sergeant and continued to fill that role until selected to the MSG list in 2008. He stayed with the company through the train up and deployment to Afghanistan in 2008. He reluctantly relinquished his duties as 1SG upon return in 2009.

CSM Bassett is a member of the 506th Association, National Infantry Association, National Armor Association, Lifetime Member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, Lifetime Member of the Association of the United States Army, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans and is an alumnus of the Wounded Warrior Project.
