4/12/08 Medal of Honor Awarded
A Navy Seal attached to the 506th Regimental Combat Team, who threw himself on top of a hand grenade in Iraq to save his comrades was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor.
The Medal of Honor was awarded to Petty Officer 2nd Class Michael A. Monsoor. His family received the medal during a ceremony April 8th at the White House.
Monsoor was part of a sniper security team in Ramadi on September 29, 2006, with three other SEALs and eight Iraqi soldiers when an insurgent fighter threw the grenade which struck Monsoor in the chest before falling in front of him. Monsoor
