1/17/12 $2000 In College Scholarships To Be Offered

The Association is now accepting applications for our 2012 College Scholarships. This year the Scholarship Committee will be able to award at least two $1000 scholarships due to generous donations from our membership. To apply click on the "Scholarship Fund" button on the left border of this page, then scroll down to find information on applying or donating.

Applicants are reminded to include their mailing address, phone number, and email address with their application. In addition, items that are sent with the application cannot be returned. Do not send original documentation as photo copies of important papers will be accepted. Questions may be directed to me at Alfred May or sent to my mailing address which is listed in the instructions. The application deadline is April 30, 2012.

1/16/12 Currahees Return to Fort Benning, Georgia

Will You be there? At the Hilton Garden Inn in Columbus, Georgia for the 2012 Currahee Reunion which will be held May 2nd to May 5th.
All 506th Currahee veterans, active duty soldiers of the Regiment as well as family and friends are invited to attend. For complete Reunion information, check out the Currahee Reunions/Events section of this web site.


12/17/11 Commanders Address

On Thursday Col. Sean M. Jenkins, Commander of 4th Brigade Combat Team, relinquished command of the brigade and welcomed Col. Valery C. Keaveny, Jr. to the Currahee Nation. As the 19th Commander of the 506th Infantry Regiment Col Keaveny addressed all Currahees! Read Col Keaveny's Address


11/15/11 Over 1400 Names Now On The Currahee KIA Memorial at Fort Campbell, KY

The names of the KIAs from the most recent Afghanistan deployment were added in November. The KIA Memorial was rededicated on 11 November 2011 in conjunction with other activities related to Currahee Rendezvous 2011. The final step to finish the Memorial will be to execute the landscaping plan this spring. Currahee KIA Memorial Fund


9/3/11 The Currahees Are Now Home From Afghanistan

As of 25 August all Currahees from the 506th Infantry Regiment who were deployed to Afghanistan are now back at Fort Campbell. Starting 1 September and running all month the formerly deployed soldiers will be on block leave. They will return to Fort Campbell in October to resume garrison duties.



8/30/11 Currahee Honored

On September 10, 2011 a roadway will be named after a Currahee. The intersection of US Highway 27 and Lafayette Road, just outside the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park will be named after PFC. SAMUEL S. LANCE. PFC Samuel "Steve" Lance was killed in action May 1, 1970 while serving with B Company 1st Battalion 506th Infantry. Steve died of small arms wounds near FSB Maureen in Thua Thien Province South Vietnam. Chickamauga National Military Park is in Rossville, Georgia.


7/6/11 Currahee Monument Project

The 506th Association has embarked on another monument project to memorialize Currahees of the past, present and future at the Airborne and Special Operations Museum near Fort Bragg......Go to 506th Commemorative Monument for more information about the recently completed fund raising for this project.
