Bylaws were adopted by Association members in April 2000, and the Association was incorporated in the State of California in September 2000, being subsequently granted tax-exempt status, both as a Section 23701W veterans organization from the State of California in February 2001 and as a non-profit organization under Internal Revenue Section 501(a) in May 2001. In addition, the Internal Revenue Service recognized the Association as a Section 501(c)(19) War Veterans organization, so donors making contributions to the Association can deduct such donations on their personal or corporate tax filings, as provided for by IRS rules and regulations. The Association is listed in IRS Publication 78, Cumulative List of Organizations described in Section 170(c) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, the list of organizations eligible to receive tax-deductible contributions. For exemption/deduction purposes, the Association Employer Identification Number (EIN) is 91-2088108.
The IRS requires that the Association make available for public inspection the Association's annual information return; the exemption application with all supporting documents; and the IRS exemption letter at a cost to cover copying and postage expenses. These documents can be requested via U.S. Mail from the 506th Association using an IRS Documents Order Form.
Alternatively, these documents can be requested directly from the IRS using IRS Form 4506-A (in Adobe PDF format).
