SFC Jarvis

SFC Barry E. Jarvis was one of six soldiers from B Troop, 1-61st CAV
who were killed by a rogue Afghan policeman on November 29, 2010,
in Nangarhar Province, Afghanistan, along the border with Pakistan,
during a routine partnering mission with the Afghan National Army
and the Afghan Border Police.


Silver Star

SFC Jarvis posthumously received a Silver Star for his actions in
pushing his platoon leader, 1LT Will Janotka, out of the line of fire.

MG James C. McConville (Commander, 101st Airborne Division) presents
the Silver Star to the Jarvis family: William and Beth Jarvis (father
and stepmother); Johnny Jarvis (brother); and Tina Jarvis (widow).
