(L) CH-47 Chinook from C Company,
159th Aviation Battalion PLAYTEX stops to refuel. (R) CH-53D "jolly green giant" prepares to refuel. This chopper was from HMH-463 (Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron), part of the MAG-16 (Marine Aircraft Group) based at MMAF (Marble Mountain Air Facility located east of the Da Nang Air Base, on the beach between China Beach and the Marble Mountains.) When this chopper took off, it blew the poncho cover- ing off the B Company CP bunker. It was raining at the time, and the chopper was so close that they could see the pilot's toothy smile! |
