(R) CH-53D "jolly green giant" prepares to refuel. This chopper was from HMH-463 (Marine
Heavy Helicopter Squadron), part of the MAG-16 (Marine Aircraft Group) based at MMAF
(Marble Mountain Air Facility
located east of the Da Nang Air Base, on the beach between
China Beach and the Marble Mountains.) When this chopper took off, it blew the poncho cover-
ing off the B Company CP bunker. It was raining at the time, and the chopper was so close that
they could see the pilot's toothy smile!
