The photos on this page were provided by C Company Commander Robert N. Crittenden. Bob Crittenden was C Company Commander in 1962 -1963. During this period the 506th Infantry was sent to the University of Mississippi in Oxford Mississippi byPresident John F. Kennedy to assist in the integration efforts at the University. After the activities at the University of Mississippi the 506th was moved north by convoy to the Memphis Naval Air Station. There the Battle Group trained and remained available for recommitment to Oxford should the need arise. The pictures one this page were taken while the Currahees were in Memphis. Two articles from "The Courier", Ft. Campbell KY describe the Currahee Training in Memphis and the Football Championship where C Company 506th Airborne Infantry won the flag football championship of Fort Campbell. |
