506th Infantry Flashes and Ovals

Ovals are known as Regimental Background Trimming. The 506th Infantry
Regimental background trimmings were approved on May 23, 1968, and used
to be described on a US Army Institute of Heraldry web page "506th Infantry
Regiment Background Trimmings" (which no longer exists). According to The
Institute of Heraldry, a Flash was never approved for the 506th Infantry.

NOTE that the Flashes and Ovals shown below, which were worn by active-duty
Currahees in the 1970s, have discrepancies (in the order of the vertical stripes
and colors of the horizontal battalion bars) from what was authorized by TIOH,
whose files contain a
2-506th January 4, 1968 memo (Adobe PDF file)
which requests adding BLUE horizontal battalion bars to the Currahee ovals.
