"Nam-Sense is about my experiences as an Instant NCO, a.k.a. Shake-n-Bake squad leader with the 101st Airborne, during the height of the Vietnam War. Although Nam-Sense is a wartime novel, the book is more of an adventure story than a war story. This is especially evident by what happened to me during the battle for Hamburger Hill. Nam-Sense is also about the characters I had met and the bizarre situations I found myself in, mostly of my own doing. It also talks about events happening at home and how the men in the field were affected by them. My editor has called Nam-Sense one of the saddest comedies he has ever read." |
